Here at Minerva we are proud to be long-standing providers and supporters  of the Government’s IT Apprenticeships scheme. As it is National Apprenticeship Week this week, we are delighted to shine the spotlight on two of our many apprentice success stories; the bright young Hammett brothers, Dan aged 21 and George aged 19.

Dan gained a place on our Apprentice scheme as a 16-year-old school leaver with a passion for technology. He joined our highly skilled team of 1st line support engineers to learn on the job whilst at the same time studying for his Level 3 certification in IT. Fast forward 5 years and he has gone from strength to strength within the company, gaining his qualification and moving from 1st line support Engineer to 1st line support Manager and now up to 2nd line support. His younger brother George was also keen to pursue a career in IT and he joined us as an apprentice in 2023. Currently working in 1st line support, George has quickly become a very valued member of the Minerva team and is studying for his Level 3 in Business Administration as part of his apprenticeship.

When asked what the best thing about an IT apprenticeship at Minerva is, George says: “I increase my knowledge every day and I am learning from the best people in the business. Everyone here takes the time to help me understand the role and supports me along the way.” Dan, his big brother, adds “I feel like Minerva will do their best to accommodate whichever direction I want my IT career to take and support me in that. I have already moved up twice within the organization and I am only 21. This is a great place to work, a very friendly and welcoming environment and we all help each other out.”

At Minerva, we are firm believers in investing in our people and helping them achieve their full potential. We have been hiring apprentices for several years now and some our most senior members of staff began their careers with us as school leavers over 20 years ago. If you would like to find out more about our apprenticeship scheme and joining the Minerva team, please do drop us a line here. We look forward to hearing from you!
