Since we established in 1983, Minerva has always been a company who strive to deliver the best possible service by providing effective solutions, in a timely manner and for excellent value for money. At Minerva, we pride ourselves on the business relationships we build and for us, long, healthy client relationships is one of the reasons we have been here for as long as we have.

John Chadwick
Managing Director
I started Minerva in 1983 when my job as a commodity trader was made redundant. I decided to use my dormant Computing degree from Leeds University so I started by visiting my old customers with a “micro-computer” in the boot of the car to demonstrate software to replace the old Kalamazoo card-based accounts systems. Those were the days when a small computer would sell for £5,000-10,000. Over the last 30 years we have built a stable highly skilled team of individuals who are phased by nothing in the software and hardware business but we have focused primarily on the requirements of Small to Medium sized enterprises. I look at Minerva as my second family and long may it remain so.
Jon Parnell
Sales Director
When my youthful ambitions to be a professional sportsman didn’t come to fruition, I went to Leeds University and qualified as a Mechanical Engineer. From Uni, I started work with Hewlett Packard and 15 years ago I moved into Sales. Joining Minerva in 2011 was an easy decision, being part of a top team, with a great approach to business. Having hung up the rugby boots I still love the game, and whilst I am now more an all-round armchair sportsman, I’m still into the charity challenges: this year it’s Trailwalker for Oxfam (100km trek across the South Downs).

Having grown up as one of the original home computer generation; Qualifying directly into the IT Industry 20 years ago was a natural choice. I started my experience with Minerva as a developer, following onto business software and network and infrastructure consultancy and finally management. For a bit of R&R my current hobby of choice is “Kart racing” where I currently try and compete (fairly successfully) with the sub-40 youngsters.
Steve McMurray
Infrastructure and Security Manager
Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away I discovered a love for all things computer related (even Macs). The journey began fixing the issues that my father caused by allegedly ‘just turning it on’. My interest grew as I progressed through the education system, ultimately catching a break by coming to Minerva for work experience. Several years later I’m still here and have worked my way up to Infrastructure and Security Manager. The reason for staying you ask? Simple - great colleagues to work with, relaxed environment and the ability to get out and meet new people! Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with my wife and children, learning about technology, watching movies and playing computer games - yes it’s fair to say I might be a bit of a Geek!

My first job in 1976 was as an operator on a main frame computer and I have been in IT industry ever since and have seen many changes to computing.. My career has involved working for American Defence Companies, British Stockbrokers and Australian software companies. I joined Minerva in 2002 and I very much enjoy working in the friendly, informal and relaxed environment. I am a qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians which I under took to be more effective in my role as Support Manager. In my spare time I am also a keen rugby enthusiast and part time coach and spend far too much time and expense attending matches up and down the country, and sometimes abroad, nearly every weekend in the rugby season...

Office Manager
I arrived at Minerva in 2003 with 20 years of administrative experience. Working with the younger team members and seeing their fresh outlook and ideas has been refreshing. My unofficial role of mum and looking after everyone is fun but my true vocation is development and support. Next to my partner, my family and Minerva , my fourth love is chocolate which must be Cadburys or Thornton’s. I love to travel. I have cruised the Mediterranean and the river Nile, discovered the delights of Rome and Athens but my favourite destination is a small, Spanish town which we have visited several times.
